Direct current for an efficient factory of tomorrow
Low-loss transportation of electricity over long distances, optimum integration of renewable energies and maximum reliability - DC cables offer ground-breaking advantages for the energy transition of tomorrow. With its DC cable portfolio, LAPP paves the way for DC technology in industry and supplies the essential components for setting up a DC infrastructure for the low-voltage range. LAPP has been active for years in research projects on the topic of direct current in industry and in 2022 joined the newly formed ODCA (Open Direct Current Alliance) as a founding member, thus contributing to the technology and discussion on direct current grids and their importance for the energy transition.

Sustainability @LAPP
Sustainable new paths – Products made from renewable raw materials
The use of renewable raw materials plays a decisive role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Our highly flexible Ethernet cable ETHERLINE® FD bioP Cat.5e with a bio-based outer sheath reduces dependence on fossil raw materials, as it consists of over 40 % rapidly renewable material. As the product properties are the same as those of the standard version made purely from fossil raw materials, there are no technical restrictions. Climate change is one of the most challenging issues of our time. The carbon footprint is the key indicator of how much climate-damaging carbon dioxide is produced by the actions of people or companies. The lower, the better. LAPP wants to lead by example and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint with its products. Thanks to innovative solutions such as bio-based plastic, we have taken an important step towards improving our environmental footprint.
In the futureLab you can also find out how LAPP calculates the carbon footprint of its products and what benefits costumers can derive from this or where the trend topic of additive manufacturing is already being used.

Harnessing Solutions made by LAPP
From prefabricated single-core cables for stationary systems, to servo solutions for extremely fast applications, to highly complex drag chains - with our harnessing solutions we offer you the right cabling solution for every need worldwide.
LAPP Harnessing Solutions – the all-round worry-free package
In addition to high-quality products, our harnessing solutions also include first-class service. Our experts will be at your side right from the outset and support you with planning, including design and construction, requirement analysis, process optimisation and quality assurance. We'll also carry out customised series of tests for you and take over the delivery or on-site assembly. Whether in small batch sizes or in series production.

Securely connected - Connection solutions for the Industrial Communication
5G, WLAN, radio, Industrial Ethernet and IIoT are the key to your competitiveness - with our industrial-grade, robust and high-quality products for the intelligent control of PLCs, sensors and actuators, we support you in transforming your factory into a smart factory. In doing so, we pay attention to the highest quality of our products for all common protocol standards.
These protocol standards include, first and foremost, PROFINET, a data transmission standard based on the Industrial Ethernet protocol, which is the leader in Europe. In addition to data transmission, it also describes the structure and colour of the cable outer sheath and cores, and defines the mating faces of connectors.
Single Pair Ethernet: Technology with a future
Industry 4.0 requires a uniform network infrastructure across all levels and systems. Classic Ethernet is often unsuitable for connecting the lowest field level because the cables are complex to connect and oversized. This is where our single pair Ethernet cables come into play: the copper cables contain only one twisted pair of wires, which they use for data transmission - the slim, light and material-saving Ethernet further development for many current and future areas of application.
Ethernet-APL: Milestone for process automation
A higher transmission rate and greater range for SPE connections - this is what Advanced Physical Layer makes possible. New in LAPP's portfolio is the Single Pair Ethernet APL cable with physical layer for data transmission into the field of the process plant. This enables the fast transmission of large amounts of data and continuous communication from the field level to higher-level information systems - even in hazardous areas and with the advantages of LAPP's proven Single Pair Ethernet technology.
Fibre optic cables: For the fastes, fault-free data transmission, especially over long distances
Fibre optic cables as a transmission medium for optical signals are becoming increasingly popular when transmitting data in Ethernet networks. Depending on the application area and type of fibre optic cable, they achieve maximum speeds over long distances and, thanks to their extendability, are the perfect argument for sustainable networking.

Fibre optic cables Fast Connect
This highlight include the field-attachable EPIC® DATA FFC-LC connectors and EPIC® DATA FFC-SC connectors for GOF optical fibres, available in a range of variants. Thanks to the FFC system, these can be quickly and easily assembled on site – even in confined spaces. And the best thing about it is that complicated process steps, special tools and a laboratory environment for assembly are no longer necessary.
The connectors thus simplify the production of a pluggable fibre optic connection and offer a high degree of flexibility. Of course, we have also included the necessary assembly accessories, the starter kit as basic equipment and the toolkit with tools and cleaning agents in our portfolio.
Screened cables and connection systems: With EMC protection in industrial applications
In the smart factory, high electrical power and an increasing amount of data are transferred in a tight space. This increases the risk of electromagnetic interference – even one poorly screened connector can paralyse an entire production process. So it's no wonder that the industry for electromagnetically compatible solutions is on the rise – currently at seven percent per year worldwide. Optimum electromagnetic compatibility (EMC for short) requires a good understanding of the system and the selection of the right components. Users get both from LAPP:
- EMC-optimised products and the innovative zeroCM® technology
- Pre-assembled connection solutions like ÖLFLEX® CONNECT
- Individual services for EMC testing your systems (Health Check Service)
Our new Remote I/O devices complete our product portfolio for industrial communication. Read more about it under "What's New at LAPP?".
