We see sustainability as a mindset that becomes visible through action. That’s why we’re consciously moving forward—towards a shared future that lasts.
Why we take action – with responsibility and foresight
As the organizer of a leading industrial trade fair and other events, we place great importance on continuously moving toward greater sustainability. We do so with determination and impact. We carefully evaluate every measure, whether large or small, for its potential to drive improvement. We stay in motion, working toward a future that lasts.
Sustainability is not a side issue; it’s a core part of our corporate strategy. As part of Mesago and the Messe Frankfurt Group, we take ecological, social, and economic responsibility. With our sustainability strategy, we have set clear goals that we regularly review and refine. This is how we shape the future of events by combining responsibility with progress.
Our current focus lies on two key areas:
- Resources & waste: Reducing material usage, choosing sustainable materials, minimizing waste and raising awareness among all stakeholders.
- Mobility: Encouraging climate-friendly travel to and from the event and expanding compensation options. In 2024, nearly one third of visitors travelled to Nuremberg by train or public transport.
How we create sustainable events

Acting sustainably – from travel to stand construction
Modular rental stands that conserve resources
Our modular rental systems follow one principle: better to reuse than to consume once. Modular designs, durable materials and recyclable ECO- Rips carpeting significantly reduce resource usage. We avoid foil printing and instead use alternatives like digital printing or reusable fabric banners—principles we also apply to Mesago’s own booth constructions.
Together with our service partners Messebau Wörnlein and Holtmann+, we continuously develop solutions that combine sustainability, functionality and design.
Digital over print
Wherever possible, we avoid printed materials and opt for digital solutions. Since 2025, we have been providing all exhibition plans exclusively via the SPS app —saving paper, ink and energy. Contact data can also be captured digitally, making business cards unnecessary.
FSC-certified paper as standard
When printed materials are unavoidable, we use only FSC-certified paper from responsibly managed forestry. Examples include posters for the Young Talents and vouchers for the on-site gingerbread giveaway.
Sustainable giveaways
Even small items can make a statement: our pens are made of durable metal and bamboo — a fast-growing renewable resource. By avoiding plastic and using robust materials, we promote resource conservation and longevity.
Regional catering from Franconia
Catering at the event follows the principle of “regional, seasonal and mindful.” Together with our partner Lehrieder and other local providers, we focus on short supply chains, thoughtful planning and responsible food handling. Regional and seasonal dishes from Franconia help reduce the carbon footprint, complemented by a growing range of vegetarian and vegan options. Food and drinks are mostly served in reusable dishware, and deposit containers on-site ensure bottles are returned to the cycle.
Convenient and low-emission travel
Since January 2025, ticket prices in the Greater Nuremberg Transport Network (VGN) have increased – including those included in the SPS ticket. The SPS absorbs these additional costs, continuing to enable low-emission travel without the hassle of parking.
For visitors from across Germany, the DB Event Ticket offers a nationwide fixed price — flexible, comfortable and including the City Ticket. We also regularly evaluate participants’ mobility data to continuously improve our offering.
Partnership that makes the future possible

Sustainability is not a solo effort. That’s why we work closely with NürnbergMesse – a partner who shares our vision and actively helps shape sustainable event conditions. You can find more about NürnbergMesse’s sustainability strategy on their website.
Our recommendations for sustainable event participation
Sustainability works best when everyone gets involved — exhibitors and visitors alike. Even small decisions can make a big difference. That’s why we’ve put together practical recommendations to help you conserve resources and reduce CO₂ before, during and after the event.
Recommendations for exhibitors
Before the event
Even in the planning phase, you can make a real impact.
- Plan climate-friendly travel: Use the DB Event Ticket, public transport or carpooling. 84 charging stations are available on-site for electric vehicles.
- Choose sustainable accommodation: Opt for certified hotels such as GreenSign, Green Key or Green Globe.
- Design your booth sustainably: Use modular systems, avoid digital prints and leave out year references to make materials reusable.
- Rethink print products: Avoid printed materials where possible. If printing is necessary, choose certified paper (e.g. FSC, PEFC).
- Choose promotional items wisely: Go for durable, useful giveaways with ecological or social value.
- Plan booth catering responsibly: Prefer regional, seasonal and plant-based options in appropriate quantities and use reusable dishware.
- Plan efficiently: Did you know that one trade fair visit can replace an average of five business trips? That’s according to a recent study by AUMA, the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry. Make the most of your presence by inviting customers and prospects.
During the event
You can also act sustainably on-site:
- Stay mobile in an eco-friendly way: Use public transport or carpooling to reduce traffic-related emissions.
- Plan staff fairly: Ensure reasonable working hours for your booth team.
- Raise awareness: Familiarize your team with sustainable behavior and your company’s values.
- Prefer regional service providers: Support local suppliers and short transport routes.
- Use digital tickets: Show your ticket on your device to save paper. If printed, reuse your lanyard.
- Consume water responsibly: Refill your reusable bottle at the water stations to avoid packaging waste.
After the event
Conscious handling of materials makes a difference.
- Dispose of materials correctly: Separate waste to support recycling.
- Consider recycling and reuse: Repurpose or pass on materials where possible.
- Use storage options: Keep booth modules, graphics and other elements for future events.
- Analyze your footprint: Review the environmental impact of your participation and identify new opportunities.
