As aerospace manufacturers prepare for significantly increased production rates on future aircraft programmes, the industry faces growing pressure to deliver larger volumes of complex structures while maintaining the highest standards of precision and quality.
Loop Technology, a UK specialist in industrial automation, robotics and machine vision systems, is helping reshape the future of aerospace manufacturing through its innovative FibreLINE platform, powered by the Fanuc M-2000 industrial robot.
FibreLINE has been developed specifically to meet these challenges, offering a scalable and highly automated process for the production of large composite aerostructures.
Manufacturing primary aerospace composite structures requires exceptional positional accuracy, often to within ±1 mm, while handling large and complex components. Production environments must also accommodate the combination of delicate composite materials and heavy tooling, creating significant demands on automation systems.
Traditional gantry-based systems can struggle to provide the flexibility, scalability and cost efficiency required for future aerospace production rates. To overcome these limitations, Loop Technology sought a robotic platform capable of combining high payload capacity with exceptional accuracy and repeatability.
