SPS 2022: A look into the future of automation
The 31st edition of SPS, the trade fair for smart and digital automation, is expected to attract 1,100 exhibitors from across the globe. The event will take place from 8 to 10 November 2022 in Nuremberg and will showcase the latest products, solutions and pioneering future technologies in the field of industrial automation.

The momentum of SPS Italia continues in Germany
The great success of the SPS Italia 2022 has further spurred interest in the SPS 2022 in Nuremberg: more than 700 exhibitors have already registered for the event, which will take place from 8 – 10 November. Following a successful SPS Italia in Parma, which was able to achieve an extremely positive result with 36,522 visitors and 802 exhibitors from May 24 - 26, the SPS in Nuremberg, has also recorded a high demand for participation in this year's highlight trade fair for automation.
Live and in person once more: a positive outlook for the SPS 2022
With almost 700 exhibitors registered by the early booking deadline, the booking figures for the SPS 2022 are extremely positive. And according to organizer Mesago Messe Frankfurt, more interested exhibitors are coming forward every day. This is testament to the high level of interest in attending Europe’s leading exhibition for electric automation technology, which will take place in Nuremberg from 08 - 10 November 2022.
SPS 2022 Scheduled in the First Half of November
This year’s SPS will be held in Nuremberg, Germany, from 08 - 10 November 2022, two weeks earlier than in previous years. This gives the entire industry planning certainty in respect of the leading exhibition for smart and digital automation in these pandemic times.
SPS 2021 is canceled
Following the announcement made by Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Markus Söder in today's press conference, Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH is canceling the SPS - Smart Production Solutions, which was scheduled to take place in Nuremberg from 23 - 25 November 2021.
SPS 2021: Highlights on-site and online
Visitors of this year's SPS can continue to look forward to an extensive and high-quality range of products and services from 23 - 25 November 2021. The exhibitors will present the latest product developments on site and invite visitors for personal meetings. At the same time, maximum safety precautions such as mandatory FFP2 masks for all participants ensure the best possible conditions for the fair. In addition to the live event, a top-class lecture program will be held digitally.
SPS 2021 once again confirms physical event
Despite the short-notice cancellations by some exhibitors at the SPS in Nuremberg, the SPS 2021 will take place as a presence event. More than 700 exhibitors are represented on-site and will be offering visitors a wide range of products and services around smart and digital automation. With the digital add-on, the “SPS on air”, the SPS remains the most important platform for the automation industry this year.
SPS 2021 takes place for those vaccinated, or recovered from COVID-19
Based on the new catalog of measures by the Bavarian State Government, which came into effect on 6 November, the SPS 2021 will take place in Nuremberg, Germany at the end of November under the German 2G conditions for those that have been vaccinated against, or have recovered from COVID-19.
SPS 2021 with safer conditions and impressive array of presentations
Taking into account the current Corona regulation by the Bavarian government, the SPS will take place from 23 – 25 November 2021 in Nuremberg under the German 3G plus rule. This means that fully vaccinated and recovered persons as well as persons with a negative PCR test no more than 48 hours old may participate. This regulation enables a largely unrestricted exhibition experience with maximum protection against infection.
SPS 2021 – The Platform for Automation Industry Exchange
Even in times of COVID-19, SPS Smart Production Solutions remains one of the most important highlights in the automation industry calendar. Following a successful test exhibition in Munich, trade fairs have been permitted again in Bavaria since 1 August 2021 and around 750 exhibitors are expected in Nuremberg from 23-25 November 2021 to present their products and solutions for smart and digital automation. This on-site will be combined with a supplementary digital offering.
SPS 2021 to be complemented by “SPS on air” digital event
As recently announced by Mesago Messe Frankfurt, this year’s SPS, which is taking place from 23 – 25 November 2021, will have a hybrid format. By connecting the physical world of the fair with a digital add-on, the organizer will be creating a holistic trade fair experience offering those interested around the world the chance to be part of the SPS 2021.
SPS 2021 to return in person with hybrid format
Mesago Messe Frankfurt is planning to return to an in-person event for this year’s SPS, which is taking place from 23-25 November 2021. The physical event will be complemented by an additional digital offering for global visitors who are unable to travel to Nuremberg to attend in person.
Review of SPS Connect and the current situation regarding SPS 2021
2020 is over and with it the first entirely virtual SPS. By 31 December 2020, the SPS Connect platform had played host to a total of 9,121 visitors, seen interactions with 239 exhibitors, facilitated 4,296 business meetings, and delivered a wealth of information about the latest products in the automation industry. In 2021, however, the event is once again set to take place in person from 23 to 25 November in Nuremberg.

With high participant numbers and an impressive interaction rate, the SPS Connect, which took place from 24-26 November 2020, illustrated the continuing importance of a professional exchange between suppliers and users, and clearly demonstrated that technological progress in the automation industry cannot be stopped even in the midst of a pandemic. For organizer Mesago, the event has been a resounding success.
