Countdown to the SPS: More exhibitors, more innovation, more anticipation

18 Nov 2025

The SPS – Smart Production Solutions is just a week away, and the anticipation in the automation industry is reaching its apex. The exhibitor forecasts published in September have not only been met, but exceeded: With approximately 1,170 expected, visitors can look forward an even broader range of products and services than last year – a clear signal of the industry's innovative strength.

Despite the tense economic situation, the automation industry is robust and looking to the future:

“Its ability to outperform the predicted number of exhibitors clearly shows how important the SPS is as a central platform for the industry. Visitors will not only find a comprehensive range of smart and digital automation, but also numerous new solutions and technologies that address current challenges," explains Sylke Schulz-Metzner, Vice President SPS.

Focus on knowledge transfer on industrial AI

The central focus topic of this year’s trade fair is industrial AI. Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a key to efficiency and innovation in industrial production. This will be evident not only at exhibitors' booths, but in the extended lecture program, as well: All the SPS stages will feature specialist lectures, panel discussions, and presentations to provide visitors with in-depth information and practical knowledge on industrial AI and other current subjects. Special highlights await visitors on the Technology Stage powered by VDMA/ZVEI in Hall 3: From 10:40 am to 2:10 pm on the second day of the trade fair, an entire thematic block on industrial AI is on the agenda. It will include:

  • A keynote speech by Prof. Martin Ruskowski, chairman of the Technology Initiative SmartFactory KL e.V., on the role of AI in production and IT-OT convergence
  • A panel discussion entitled "Artificial Intelligence – Challenges, Opportunities, and Use Cases in Industrial Services" with representatives from Eaton Electric GmbH, Weidmüller Interface GmbH & Co. KG, Siemens AG, and Endress+Hauser SE+Co. KG
