Robust Distance Measurements for short, medium and long Ranges in the Millimeter Domain

LPR®-1DHP-291 by Symeo - an evolution of the well- proven 60 GHz technology - ensures highly precise, robust and maintenance-free distance measurements for short, medium and long ranges. With the same compact and light form factor as its predecessor LPR®-1DHP-290, the new wireless sensor system achieves measurement accuracies in the millimeter range by using the latest ultra-wideband technology. Due to its superior robustness, the maintenance-and-wear-free LPR® radar technology, the high-precision measurement results, the LPR®-1DHP-291 radar distance sensors are the ideal solution for crane automation processes in harsh industrial environments.

Safe Distance Measurement with LPR®-SAFE

LPR®-SAFE is a system for safe distance measurement compliant with the functional safety standard EN ISO 13849 PLd. It is suitable for semi-automatic and automatic crane systems or rail-bound vehicles, for example.

LPR®-SAFE consists of LPR®-1DHP-291 (60 GHz) or LPR®-1D24 (24 GHz)series radar distance measurement sensors which, together with a certified function block (EN ISO 13849 PLd) on a fail-safe Siemens PLC, enable precise, functionally safe distance measurement.

Two redundant measuring sections with two sensors each, all of the same type, are set up for this purpose. Both measuring sections operate in redundant secondary radar mode ensuring that the measurement only takes place to the appropriately configured partner unit. Each of the two redundant measuring sections provides distance values, which are forwarded to a fail-safe PLC, where the measured distances are compared in the certified function block (EN ISO 13849 PLd). The measured values can be read and compared on one or both sides of the measuring section with its own PLC on each side. If the deviation of the measured distances of both sections is within the permissible tolerances, the measured values are marked as safe. If not, the measurement is marked as unsafe and corresponding actions can be triggered on the (crane) system side.

Depending on the sensor type used, different ranges and accuracies result.

Symeo Crane-AntiColl Software "Collision Control Center": anti-collision solution for cranes at different heights

Symeo Collision Control Center (CCC) is a modular assistance and management system developed especially for crane anti-collision applications. CCC can be called up via a web user interface in any browser.

The software makes it easy to configure triggers for warning and stop signals. The system is capable of tracking cranes with various dimensions, even at different heights. The individual crane anti-collision environment can be easily simulated and stored in the CCC. Cranes can also prevented from crossing over pre-defined safety zones. Safety zones can be individually adapted on the fly.

The positions and speed of the cranes and trolleys are measured with the highly-reliable wireless system LPR®-1D24. The data is transmitted via the integrated LPR® wireless data link or via Ethernet. Symeo´s Collision Control Center visualizes and monitors the position of all participating objects in real-time.

The LPR®-1DHP-350 radar system performs distance measurements for short and medium ranges with high accuracy. Based on primary or secondary radar measurements, the LPR®-1DHP-350 can detect the position and speed of objects such as cranes or rail-based transport systems in real time and make the data available via the device interfaces.

The sensors are easy to install and put into operation with the aid of a webbased interface. A directional antenna is integrated into the housing. The device features the latest millimeter-wave technology for highly precise measurements. Even under the harshest weather and environmental conditions such as rain, fog, snow, dust, smoke or vibrations, the maintenance- and wear-and-tear-free wireless technology operates reliably with a high degree of availability – indoors and outdoors.
