The world's smallest hollow shaft servo motor for high-precision applications:

Trade fair innovation

The world's smallest hollow shaft servo motor for high-precision applications:

Description

The compact servo motors of the MDD (Micro-direct-Drive) family are available in dimensions from 13 mm to 70 mm and with three lengths. These rugged, space-saving motors are very quiet, extremely precise and used for a wide range of direct drive applications, where precise positioning is required in addition to high torque. They offer speed and precision in a compact design that allows for adaptability to the individual requirements of the application. The low-noise MDD motors consume less power than other motors with comparable performance and service life. Thanks to special winding, robust ball bearings and extra-strong magnets, these compact motors achieve a very high torque (up to 1000 mNm, with peak values up to 3100 mNm) and enable better load performance.

The exceptional high rigidity, high speed and precision are achieved by its design, in which the shaft is directly connected to the gearbox. For precise positioning, the motors have an integrated encoder (absolute or incremental) with a resolution of up to 21 bit. On request, the MDD series can be supplied with a hollow shaft, and with custom adaptations (e.g. special seal). These robust and space-saving motors are extremely precise and are used in a wide range of direct drive applications where precise positioning is required along with power

MDD motors offer high performance in a compact and lightweight housing for robotics applications. Examples include not only high-precision devices in cleanrooms such as Scara, pharmaceutical robots and small gantry, but also in industrial robotic arms such as for cobots, articulated robots for production plants with complex assembly work in harsh conditions, and precision machines such as SMA devices for electrical and semiconductor manufacturing

New is the MRS-70 as a direct drive servo motor with Ø 25mm hollow shaft for high precision rotary table applications. The motor has a dimension of Ø70 x 56mm, and delivers 3.1Nm at 200 rpm. An encoder with 2,592,000 p/r (4 x) / 2,097,152 (21bit) is integrated

Drivers:

We offer several suitable drivers from different suppliers, including the MC-200 series from NPM, like the Ultra Compact MC-200-6018 with SPI, USB and PWM connection

Shaft motors with contactless magnetic counterweight

Shaft motors with contactless magnetic counterweight

When shaft motors are used vertically, a counterweight is required to compensate for the gravitational effect. Without a counterweight, the motor shaft would fall down in the de-energized state. In conventional designs, the spring counterweight is a critical component because the spring ages over time and requires special attention to maintenance. A new, maintenance-free counterweight called gLESS uses magnetic force and enables uniform movement. The counterweight realizes a stable movement and is maintenance-freeCompared to the spring counterweight, the magnetic counterweight offers the following advantages:

  • The "spring constant" does not change even after many years of use.
  • The shaft does not fall down without current.
  • Almost no scattering of magnetic flux
  • Compact solution in combination with the manufacturer's shaft motor.
  • Constant balancing force.
  • Non-contact function ensures that there is no maintenance.

The gLess series is available in 3 sizes in diameter (Ø13; Ø18; Ø18mm), and covers force ranges of 2.66; 6.1 and 19.6N, with a working stroke of 40 mm. The gLESS components are designed as a non-contact solution and can be mounted very close to the shaft motor.

NEW: Based on the scale-free linear motor SX060, manufacturer NPM has launched a complete linear motor unit on the market, which is equipped with gLESS counterweight. The linear motor does not require an external encoder and has almost no magnetic leakage fluxes, which means that compact applications with more than one motor with a distance of only 9mm can be realized
