TBM2G: FRAMELESS DIRECT DRIVE TORQUE MOTORS WITH HOLLOW SHAFT FOR LOW VOLTAGES 48VDC / 24VDC AND BELOW - DESIGNED FOR ROBOTIC JOINTS

Actronic-Solutions GmbH

Description

Kollmorgen introduces the new TBM2G series of frameless torque motors with hollow shaft specifically designed to optimise the design of collaborative and medical robots, aerospace and defence robots and other robots. The TBM2G servo motors are the evolution of the existing TBM and KBM motor series according to feedback from our customers - the TBM2G motor series represents the result of several years of research and development and testing and, with its hollow shaft and optimised windings, simultaneously enables optimal performance in a lighter, more compact package and high performance torque through an extremely compact electromagnetic design. These next-generation torque motors enable the design of robots with lower joint weight, higher load capacity, improved energy efficiency, reduced thermal input and more dynamic movements.

The TBM2G are ideally suited for battery-powered and mobile applications such as autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and automated guided vehicles (AGV). The seven frame sizes correspond to the sizes used in embedded applications such as collaborative and surgical robots. The standard sizing is optimised for combination with commercially available shaft gearboxes. The large inner diameter through hole of the TBM2G hollow shaft motors can be used for encoders, cables, hoses, shafts, tools, etc.

The main features of the TBM2G torque motor series are:

  • seven sizes from 50 to 119mm outer diameter
  • hollow shaft from 24.75 to 57.5mm
  • optimised standard windings for 48V (DC) / 24V (DC) and below
  • optimised windings for speed and torque requirements in collaborative robot applications weighing 3.5 and 15 kilograms and more
  • multiple standard thermal sensor options to suit the most popular drives on the cobot market
  • low cogging torque for smooth operation
  • optional integrated Hall sensors that do not extend the motor length
  • designed to perform well without exceeding 85 °C, but at the same time capable of delivering full
capable of maintaining full power at winding temperatures up to 155 °C on a continuous basis
  • corrosion-resistant stainless steel rotors with hollow shaft
  • epoxy-coated ring magnet (neodymium, NdFeB)
  • optional: connectors and customised versions (Kollmorgen Co-Engineering)

STEPNET - DIGITAL STEPPER MOTOR AMPLIFIER WITH ENCODER FEEDBACK

The Stepnet stepping motor drives of the manufacturer Copley Controls are the modern digital stepper motor controllers and can be seen as brothers of the Xenus and Accelnet servo controllers from Copley Controls. There are stepper drives for mains operation at 1x 110 - 240Vac as well as for DC supply (24Vdc to 90Vdc).

The Stepnet stepper motor controllers are 100% software-compatible with the Xenus servo controllers and offer the same functionality, i.e. they can completely control individual axes with their indexer functionality. Communication with individual commands in ASCII format via the RS-232 interface is possible, as well as pre-programming and storing entire programs and controlling them via inputs.

The possibility for a real servo mode should be emphasized, i.e. stepper motors with an AquadB digital encoder can be operated as multi-pole servo motors.

The Stepnet stepper controllers are also equipped with a CAN interface as standard (CANopen, DSP402 profile). The new Stepnet Plus stepper amplifiers also offer an optional EtherCAT interface. The connection to these two fieldbus systems opens up new possibilities for automation concepts with distributed intelligence.

In general, the following characteristics can be noted for the stepper controllers of the Stepnet series:

  • operation at 14Vdc to 90 Vdc / 110VAc to 230Vac (depending on model)
  • currents from 0.7Arms to 8.5Arms continuous
  • efficient control: vector control (info vector control )
  • efficient commissioning: CME software with oscilloscope and auto-tuning and auto-phasing
  • easy integration into central control concepts: pulse/direction interface, +/-10V, PWM
  • efficient use as single axis controller: powerful indexer via RS232 interface (programs also addressable via I/O)
  • easy integration into distributed control concepts: CANopen (optional CANopen libraries for C++ (data sheet CML ) and COM objects (data sheet CMO ))

STEPNET PLUS STEPPING MOTOR CONTROLLER (RS232, ETHERCAT / CANOPEN) WITH (ABSOLUTE) ENCODER FEEDBACK

Stepnet Plus is the HighEnd version of the Stepnet stepper motor controller family:

  • operating modes: speed or position control
  • command input: EtherCAT, CANopen, RS-232, +/-10V, PWM, I/O (Indexer), Stepper, Master Encoder (Electronic Gear)
  • operation at 24Vdc or 48Vdc (14Vdc to 90 Vdc)
  • currents from 3.5Arms to 7.1Arms continuous
  • available in four designs: Panel single-axis (TEL/TPL), panel dual-axes (TE2/TP2), module for soldering single-axis (SEM/SPM), module for soldering dual-axes (SE2/SP2)
  • improved current resolution
  • more inputs/outputs
  • new fieldbus systems: CANopen, EtherCAT
  • Safety integrated: Safe Torque Off (STO), SIL 3, Category 3, PL d
