Framo Morat GmbH & Co. KG

Description

Discover our extensive product portfolio of gears, drive shafts, and gear components made from metal and/or plastic for various industries and applications. You benefit from the advantages of both materials from a single source—from gearing design and material selection to series production.

In addition to geared drive shafts for forklifts, PEEK gears for shredders, and worm gear sets for cranes and lifting devices, we also offer a coupling bell for agricultural technology. This highlights our complete machining process—providing insights into all quality-relevant manufacturing steps, from raw materials to turning, punching, nitrocarburizing, inductive hardening, and final grinding, all conducted in-house.

Are you looking for components that impress with exceptionally low weight while maintaining high durability? Then look forward to our latest innovation: carbon fiber-reinforced hybrid components, developed in collaboration with KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology).

speeroX – Smart. Silent. Space-saving.

An electric motor delivers high speeds with relatively low torque. To move loads, gears convert this rotary motion into a slower but more powerful movement. Classic high-transmission types include multi-stage spur and planetary gear sets or bevel and worm gear sets for angled arrangements—often used in combination.

Depending on the application, requirements for efficiency, service life, noise level, or installation space can push conventional designs to their limits: multi-stage spur and planetary gear sets consist of many components; bevel gear sets are noisy and require at least one preliminary stage; worm gears lose efficiency and service life due to friction. This is where the high-ratio speeroX gear set developed by Framo Morat comes into play.

Benefits at a glance:

  • High performance for one-direction drives via preferred flank

  • High efficiency through reduced friction and favorable kinematics

  • Low noise level due to a high proportion of sliding contact

  • Long service life and high power density through wear-free steel/steel pairing

  • Compact design by integrating the wheel and worm arrangement

  • Low weight and simple assembly with fewer components

  • High ratio and angled power transmission in just one stage

Thinking laterally – High ratio in just one stage

In the speeroX gear set, the gearing is relocated to the flat side of the wheel, creating a spiral geometry driven by a modified worm. This spatial arrangement minimizes installation space and ensures favorable kinematics that reduce friction and noise. The wear-free steel/steel pairing increases durability.

In the right application, speeroX outperforms traditional multi-stage gear sets in terms of efficiency, smoothness, and service life—achieving all this in a single, compact stage with reduced weight and minimal components.

X-plore your opportunities – Customized design and development

The advantages over conventional gear variants become especially clear when the requirements and use case are defined early in the design phase. Thanks to its unique geometry, speeroX achieves outstanding performance, particularly when only one direction of rotation is required.

Hub gears I Wheel hub drive

With unattended operation around the clock, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) ensure maximum efficiency and reliability in warehouses, distribution centers, and production facilities when transporting goods, packaging, and components. The foundation of these fleets lies in dynamic wheel hub drives that meet the highest requirements for transport speed, positioning accuracy, and service life.

Compact hub gears from Framo Morat provide reliable performance and are designed for different wheel loads. They stand out through the advantageous arrangement of bearings and input/output shafts, ensuring high stability and precision. The gear units are available in the NG250 and NG500 variants, in single- and two-stage versions with polyurethane (PUR) wheels. Customer-specific adaptations, such as brush seals for outdoor applications or belt drives for high-bay warehouses, can be implemented flexibly.

The new NG750 expands the proven hub gear platform and handles radial loads of up to 750 kg per wheel – combining a compact design, long service life, and easy integration into a wide range of vehicle concepts.

Key advantages:

  • Compact design by integrating the planetary stage into the wheel

  • High radial loads through direct force transmission into the vehicle frame

  • Long service life & low noise emissions by separating gearbox and wheel

  • Short delivery times & cost efficiency through the platform concept

  • Maintenance-friendly design enabling easy wheel replacement

The modular design of the NG250, NG500, and NG750 hub gears provides high flexibility for connecting motors, brakes, and control systems. Various PUR materials and wheel sizes are available for different applications.

Framo Morat has also developed a highly integrated wheel hub drive that combines all functional elements – wheel, precision planetary gear, electric motor, brake, and electronics – in one compact all-in-one solution. The modular and scalable system offers high performance in the smallest installation space and can be customized in terms of load capacity, torque, interfaces, sensors, and control profiles.
