BBH safety controllers stand for simple and clearly structured programming, fast response times and wide connectivity. SMX Series now optional with integrated OPC UA server, the standard gateway for Industry 4.0

The integrated OPC-UA server provides both fieldbus-independent connectivity for process data and acyclic data services for status and service information. The lower-level gateway to the sensor/actuatoric enables an information penetration even at this level. In combination with a service station, predictive service, condition management, etc. for safety components are easy and easy to implement.

The SMX Modular and SMX Compact are modular safety PLCs with an optional universal communication interface for all common fieldbus protocols. An OPC UA server accessible via TCP/IP services has been integrated into this communication interface.

The OPC-UA Server provides both static device metrics and dynamically updated status information. Their data can also be accessed via the corresponding gateway to the sensor and actuator level connected to the safety control. With this standardized interface, both HMI solutions are easy to implement and detailed information such as safety characteristics, information on the service life of the sensors, condition data of the safety outputs and data sheets as well as order information, pictures or drawings. In addition, intelligent sensors/actuators such as devices with SD bus interface, etc. information about the actuator, the serial number of the device, the temperature in the sensor as well as error messages (e.g. cross-circuit, internal device error, communication error, overtemperature, output P1/P2, etc.).

By means of the subscriber/provider service integrated in the OPC-UA server, the safety controller can exchange process data with further standard or safety controllers, regardless of the respective fieldbus standard. Safety goes smart.

SSCU/1 Series - safe kinematic solutions

With the new SSCU/1 series, BBH offers a freely programmable and configurable safety controller with an integrated scanner interface. With up to six connected scanners, it offers the ideal platform for applying the safety functions required for AGVs as well as for area monitoring in the production area and in robotic. Special program modules for steering angle and speed-dependent area switching or status-dependent activation of monitoring areas simplify the implementation of even complex tasks. With a cycle time of just 4 ms, the series guarantees a fast response to dynamic processes. Programming, parameterization and diagnostics/validation are simple and transparent thanks to the tried-and-tested SafePLC².

The basic version of the series has 16 safe inputs, 8 safe outputs and 4 encoder interfaces for optional connection of ABZ, HTL, SINCOS, resolver, SSI, HDSL or EnDAT2.2. The SSCU/1 also has an EtherCAT interface with FSoE master function and is suitable for applications up to PL e (EN ISO 13849-1) / SIL3 (IEC 61508).

BBH Products offers a new function library for the application of complex safety-related tasks with the unique SARC functionality in the "SARC Basic" and "SARC Advanced" expansion stages. Safe kinematic or analog value-based calculations such as Safe-TCP/Joints, Safe Cartesian Speed, position-dependent load determination, etc. are easy to implement with a graphical programming environment. SARC offers a wide range of floating point operations, from basic functions such as addition or multiplication/division to trigonometric functions and more complex functions such as matrix calculations. This function library is supplemented by further new monitoring functions, e.g. SWM = Safe Workspace Monitoring for spatial position and/or speed monitoring. With the SafePLC² function block diagram editor, the respective calculation rule is implemented in a clear, diagnosable and validatable way.
