Y-Con Cover 20-TC

Y-Con Cover 20-TC

Yamaichi Electronics Deutschland GmbH

Description

The new Y-Con Cover 20-TC replaces the previous Y-Con Cover 20, which has enjoyed great acceptance in the market for many years. Like the Y-Con Cover 20, the new Y-Con Cover 20-TC is an IP20 full metal version that protects the connector from all influences in the industrial IP20 range. High mechanical resistance coupled with improved protection against EMC interference ensures optimum signal transmission.
In contrast to the previous version, the new Y-Con Cover 20-TC can be used with different cable diameters. A diameter range from 5.5 mm to 7.1 mm offers high flexibility for a wide variety of cables.

The Y-Con Cover 20-TC can be mounted without tools.
The new snap-hook concept eliminates the need for screws, so that the upper and lower parts only have to be pressed together. This saves approx. 30 to 50 % assembly time and thus means pure cost reduction. This does not even take into account the possibility of screws falling off or getting lost. If necessary, the housing can be reused up to 5 times.

Together with our Y-Con Plug connector series, which is available with a different number of contacts, the Y-Con Cover 20-TC can be used for various RJ45 applications. The connector series is also designed and tested for harsh applications common in industrial environments. In addition, optionally integrated power contacts offer the possibility for a current transmission of up to 2.1A.

Y-SPE Industrial Single Pair Ethernet

Yamaichi Electronics offers Y-SPE, a new series of connectors for Industrial Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) according to IEC 63171.

The new series initially includes both IP20 sockets and M12 sockets with IP67 protection for PCB mounting in accordance with IEC standards 63171-2 and -6.

Single pair Ethernet offers the possibility of efficient data transmission from the sensor to the cloud. The increasing need and ability of machines, devices and also components in the production environment to communicate poses challenges to the previous Ethernet. Especially for systems with cable distances >100 m, there were only few possibilities in terms of Ethernet.

Due to the large range and the uniform communication level, single pair Ethernet is therefore generally considered the key in the transition to IIoT and Industry 4.0.

Transmission takes place via only two and no longer via four or eight contacts. Due to this fact, it is possible to build smaller connectors than the previous RJ45. The same applies to the cables. Instead of two or four pairs, only one pair is needed. This saves space, raw materials, weight and money.

To additionally ensure the supply of power, SPE offers the possibility of using Power over Data Line (PoDL) - similar to Power over Ethernet (PoE). However, the limit here is approx. 60 W. Only the two existing stranded wires are necessary for use.

For components that require more energy, hybrid connectors have been entered as a draft standard, for example in 63171-7 for M12. Yamaichi also offers first prototypes for this if required.

If a customer-specific design is preferred instead of a standard-compliant design, the customer can of course also be supported in the realisation.

Yamaichi's connectors offer the possibility to be part of SPE from the beginning and to benefit from the advantages. There is a free choice from the standardised systems.

The advantages:

- Future-oriented technology in preparation for Industry 4.0

- Both mating faces available (IEC 63171-2 / -6)

- Space and weight saving

- 90° and 180° sockets in IP20 and IP67 (IEC 63171-6)

- 90° socket (IEC 63171-2)

- Customised solutions possible

M12 Push-Pull

The push-pull version with internal locking of the M12 connector from Yamaichi Electronics is the first M12 push-pull design to be implemented in an international standard (IEC 61076-2-012). This means that design-ins for M12 push-pull systems are now possible without having to resort to proprietary solutions.

Right from the start, Yamaichi Electronics has set a new standard with the M12 Push-Pull with internal locking. The cable-side connector locks from the inside with the latching hooks deep in the device socket. As a result, the push-pull system requires exactly the same installation space as a common M12 connection with screw locking.

With this technology, it is possible to integrate the M12 device box completely recessed into the end device, e.g. the distribution box. The system is IP65/IP67 tight and uses independent sealing concepts for screw and push-pull connectors. Mixed use of the connectors is thus reliably possible.

The particularly long latching hooks of the cable connector rest against the threaded segments of the device socket. This guides the system and makes it mechanically extremely robust. This offers significant advantages when subjected to torsional loads and rotational forces. The user has all the advantages of the push-pull locking system at his disposal: High time savings, miniaturization, blind and tool-free mating with the simplest handling - and all this in accordance with the proven M12 specifications.

Standard brings safety
During the international standardization process, industry-standard requirements regarding device integration and functionality were introduced and taken into account. This ensures an ideal basis for cross-manufacturer compatibility, which has already been proven between different manufacturers. The high implementation speed of IEC 61076-2-012 of less than 2 years is further proof of this.

Fully backward compatible
The device socket can still accept conventional M12 connectors with screw locking. Users are therefore not necessarily dependent on a special cable connector and remain flexible.

Y-Lock Pullforce

YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS Electronics develops, manufactures and distributes many different automotive connectors for applications such as infotainment, camera systems, car computing, antenna, TV, navigation, radar and lidar systems, etc. The automotive products are manufactured in ISO TS16949 certified factories. The Y-Lock series is a board-to-cable system and is available in 3 different versions. The system has been successfully proven in various automotive applications over the last years. The FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) matching the connector is manufactured in our own factory in Germany.
The connector system, which is based on the Non-ZIF principle, is characterized above all by the locking mechanism, which functions without opening or closing a flap or drawer and without operating an unlocking mechanism. In version 1, locking is achieved by means of latching hooks on the connector housing, which latch behind the supporting tape of the FFC/FPC. Removal of the FFC by means of a defined extraction force is just as simple as insertion.

Positive features of version 1 adopted
Y-Lock version 2 retains the positive features of version 1, but offers interesting new features.

An additional plastic stiffener is used, which is mechanically assembled with the FFC. The stiffener is then used to engage with the connector. This new system makes it easier to guide the FFC and insert it into the connector. Furthermore, the pull-out forces of the FFC increase from about 10N to about 25N.

Another positive aspect of the Y-Lock series is the greatest possible protection of the contact overlap between FFC pads and connector. The contact overlap is ensured by guiding the FFC in the connector. In version 2, guidance is further facilitated by the use of the stiffener for positioning the FFC. This means that a skewed position of the FFC is not possible at all, as can happen, for example, when using ZIF connectors. Thus there is no danger of insufficient contact overlap.

Version 3 with additional locking
For even better contact reliability in critical applications, version 3 is equipped with additional locking in the form of lateral and frontal latching hooks. Otherwise it is identical in construction to version 2.

The Y-Lock concept is particularly suitable for space-critical shoring situations and enables safe mating even without visual contact - regardless of manual or automated mating.

Increased load capacity of all 3 versions
The design of all 3 versions has been especially adapted to areas of application that are subject to increased demands, such as in automotive or industrial applications. For example, attention was paid to increased resilience to vibrations and shock and more stringent climatic requirements in a temperature range of -40 to +105°C. The qualification was therefore based on the demanding LV 214 automotive standard.

Different numbers of poles available
Version 2 of the Y-Lock Pullforce is available as 18- and 50-pole version with a pitch of 0.5mm and a connector orientation of 180°. Other pole numbers and versions are available on request. Thus, the already existing variety of versions of version 1 is extended in a meaningful way. Version 1 is available with 0.5 and 1.0mm pitch and 12 to 30 contact pins in 90° and 180°. Version 3 is currently available as a 20-pin version with 1.0mm pitch. The series will be successively extended with new pin counts.

Y-FFC from own production in Germany
YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS offers for all 3 versions the suitable FFC with or without additional stiffener. Samples of all versions including FFC are available on request. The FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) is manufactured in our own production in Frankfurt (Oder) in Germany.
