phyCONTROL-Nova
Description
phyCONTROL-Nova: Modular IPC / Gateway
phyCONTROL-Nova is a scalable industrial PC with a powerful ARM processor. The embedded PC also serves as a modular platform for the cost-effective design of individual controllers and gateways. With phyCONTROL-Nova, customers save costs and effort, retain full control over their product, and meet requirements related to security and Cyber Resilience. The phyCONTROL-Nova is delivered with a Yocto-based Linux operating system; additionally, a Debian distribution is available. The embedded PC supports industrial protocols such as EtherCAT as well as applications such as NodeRED, CODESYS, and 4DIAC.
phyCONTROL-Nova can be used as an embedded controller for applications such as data mining and smart automation or as an IoT gateway. The robust, fanless, and compact IPC offers a powerful NXP i.MX 8M Plus Quad-Core processor, an NPU with a performance of up to 2.3 TOPS, up to 8 GBytes of RAM, and up to 64 GBytes of eMMC storage. It features universal interfaces such as 2x GBit Ethernet, 1x USB 2.0 / USB 3.0 each, RS232/485, CAN, and 4x DI/DO. Extensions can be integrated via an M.2 Connector (Key B), including a Hailo AI chip for AI applications directly on the edge device, or the Hilscher netX technology to support various Real-Time Ethernet and fieldbus systems.
Modular design for easy customization of hardware and software
A special feature of the IPC is its modular design: performance, interfaces, and functionality can be customized. Individual variants offer cost advantages, starting from only 500 units. The embedded box PC is developed and manufactured by PHYTEC in Germany, including the Yocto-Linux operating system. The embedded PC is optimized for use with open-source software and enables real-time applications. A Debian-Trixie-13 distribution is available as additional operating system. Node-RED, ThingsBoard, and thin-edge.io are supported for IoT integration, and a TPM 2.0 chip ensures extended security functionalities. The embedded PC with its robust metal housing and DIN-rail adapter can be used in an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +70°C.
