Digital Product Passport: AAS Transfer of Ownership and Product Change Notification
Digital Product Passport: AAS Transfer of Ownership and Product Change Notification
Description
A complete product story – from creation to ownership and change
In this demonstrator, a production of a bicycle takes shape — not just physically, but digitally.
Each component, from frame to saddle, is represented by its own Asset Administration Shell (AAS). Together, they form the foundation for a Digital Product Passport (DPP) that grows automatically as the product evolves.
Visitors can experience how data flows through the entire lifecycle:
-
Digital Product Passport (DPP): All relevant information — technical data, materials, and sustainability parameters — are stored in the AAS. As the product takes shape, the DPP builds itself automatically.
-
AAS Transfer of Ownership: When the bicycle is handed over to a new owner, its digital twin moves with it. The AAS, including all relevant submodels, is securely transferred across company boundaries, maintaining data integrity and access control.
-
AAS Product Change Notification (PCN): If a component changes — for example, a new handlebar design — the update is published automatically via an AAS submodel. Stakeholders are notified instantly, and downstream systems can react without manual effort.
Why it matters
This demonstrator shows how the Asset Administration Shell can connect processes and partners along a product’s lifecycle — from production to use and back. What was once fragmented data becomes a continuous, trusted information flow.
The result: transparent products, seamless handovers, and structured change communication — all built on open standards.
