Modbus Temperature Sensors

Traditionally, temperature transmitters are mounted directly on top of the probe – housed in the connection head. We have revolutionized the world of temperature transmitters with the our EVO series: these transmitters are as small as a thumb and come either as a standalone device or directly integrated with a temperature probe. They put out either a 4…20mA or a 0…10V signal.

The compactness of our transmitters allows installation in even the smallest spaces. The connection is simple with the integrated M12 connectors. For our probes with integrated transmitters, we mould the transmitter itself directly onto a mineral insulated probe. As an added bonus, this combination allows to compensate the probe errors and thus improves accuracy.

Mineral insulated probes are made from mineral insulated metal sheathed cable (frequently called MIMS cable). It has a metallic sheath and on the inside, the conductors are insulated with densely packed magnesium oxide. This construction bears a lot of advantages for temperature sensors. Mineral insulated probes are often referred to as sheathed temperature sensors.

A sheathed thermocouple has an extremely wide temperature range: from below -200 °C up to more than 1,100 °C. Furthermore, sheathed thermocouples and RTD are resistant to vibration and scratches which proves their longevity. At the same time, they are bendable. Surprisingly, they are affordable as well: MI cable costs about the same as fiberglass cable. We manufacture MI probes in diameters from 0.25 mm up to 20 mm. To ensure maximum water tightness, we mould either a connector or a robust cable transition onto the probe.
