Safety Simplifier - Safety controller with integrated wireless interface

SSP Safety System Products GmbH &Co. KG

Description

Centralized & Decentralized Safety Control

The Safety Simplifier is an extremely flexible safety controller that can be used centrally or decentrally.
Thanks to wireless communication, the wiring effort is drastically reduced. Up to 16 Safety Simplifiers can be linked via secure wireless networking.

This reduction in wiring saves resources and time in planning, documentation, setup and commissioning. A control cabinet for the safety technology can be dispensed with entirely.

The flexibly configurable inputs and outputs of each Safety Simplifier simplify the design of safety systems.

Due to the multi-master principle, each communicating Simplifier is also a repeater. This principle creates a secure mesh network in which each Safety Simplifier shares its global information with all participants within its range.

SSP offers a wide range of standard units, which are internally pre-wired and already contain the appropriate connectors for common SSP sensors.

The free Simplifier Manager 2.0 software provides an extensive library for this purpose, in which the ready-to-use standard unit can be selected. The user then receives a predefined program with input and output terminals already assigned, and ready-made EPLAN macros are available.

ZEUS - Enabling switch

ZEUS - Enabling switch

ZEUS is a modular enabling switch with modern safety functions.

Commissioning - Maintenance - Servicing - Setup

Avoidance of tampering incentives

👋 Thanks to the capacitive hand detection and the vibration sensor, the enabling switch detects whether it is being tampered with or actually guided in the hand of the operator:in.

⚡️ How ZEUS avoids operating errors

ZEUS uses the home sensor to detect whether it has been placed in the designated holder, or removed. Thus, the enabling switch cannot be forgotten or misplaced in the system.

These functions as well as different pushbutton options, control functions and cable configurations are possible.

When machines are controlled in a special operating mode, such as a robot for setup, enabling switches are usually used.

Often, people need to be in close proximity to or at least within the facility of a robot to perform maintenance or setup. In this case, protective devices must be lifted.

Here, the persons are in a hazardous environment, hence the enabling mode.

In this operating mode, the operator of the machine has the option of overriding certain safety devices such as protective doors by selecting the operating mode and actuating the enabling device.

The 3-step function is important here. Only in the center position does the 3-stage enabling switch release certain hazardous movements. If the operator releases the enabling switch or pushes it through to stage three, the system switches off in a safety-oriented manner.
