The single-pair data cable can be laid as a flexible patch and connection cable or as an installation cable. Depending on the requirements
SPE data cables differ in terms of flexibility and structure and are compatible with all common single-pair Ethernet connector systems in accordance with
IEC 63171, including IEC 63171-2 and IEC 63171-5.

All data cables are suitable for the transmission of Power over Data Une (PoDL) and are available with a conductor diameter of AWG18 to AWG26.

Direct integration of modern sensors and field devices: The Managed and Unmanaged Switches for Single Pair Ethernet and SPE-capable Media Converters enable end-to-end Ethernet communication right up to the cloud. Additional gateways or complex subsystems are not required. The devices can be used universally with all Ethernet and IP-based protocols. In addition to the transmission of data, the end devices are optimally supplied with power from the devices via Power over Dataline (PoDL). Single Pair Ethernet fulfils the requirements for a future-proof network infrastructure.

For the first time, sensors with a single-pair Ethernet interface enable end-to-end Ethernet communication from the field level, where the sensors are installed, to the cloud. In the networked Ethernet topology, all network applications with the appropriate authorisation can access the high-precision sensor values in real time. In industrial applications based on the automation pyramid, for example, the measured values from the SPE sensors can be used consistently at all levels. With these sensors, the 10BASE-T1L technology used also ensures the required power supply to the sensor via the two-wire data cable by means of “Power over DataLine” (PoDL). No additional supply cable needs to be installed. In addition, 10BASE-T1L enables cable distances of up to 1000 metres in the application.
