The role of software in the Industrie 4.0 context is steadily increasing. It is becoming apparent that the introduction of software is also accompanied by efforts to identify and monitor software versions. In the area of cybersecurity, too, the requirements for fast and targeted closure of security gaps by installing the latest software versions are increasing. Digital twins for software can be used to reduce the effort required for this. Information on the software used can thus be recorded and processed automatically. If updates are available, they can be compared with existing software versions and updates can be executed in a targeted manner. These and other use cases will be addressed in this panel discussion.
