Flexible Gateway UNIGATE CX
Various fieldbuses and Industrial Ethernet standards have taken over in the automation industry. The challenge of connecting these incompatible communication systems remains a big one.
UNIGATE CX DINrail modules have been developed precisely for this purpose. The units combine various fieldbus and Industrial Ethernet interfaces. The UNIGATE CX is designed as DIN-rail module and contains the selected Fieldbuses or Ethernet in the mechanical variant carried out in the respective standard. Internally the product is realized by using two UNIGATE CL-modules. By this modular structure all Fieldbus- and Ethernet-versions can be supplied, provided that the respective CL-modules are available. The number of available versions is growing steadily by the continuous development of new CL-modules e. g. in the Industrial Ethernet field.
With the UNIGATE CX series, the data exchange can be realized via the configuration of the implemented protocols or via the programming of a script. Another possibility is the combination of implemented protocol and a script.
The implemented protocols can be configured with the configuration software WINGATE. Scripts can be programmed with the free Deutschmann software tool Protocol Developer.
The consistency of the Deutschmann UNIGATE CX series allows once generated configurations and scripts to be used for other fieldbus and Ethernet based versions.

UNIGATE IC2 - The fast embedded module
The powerful all-in-one bus nodes of the UNIGATE IC2 series provide a comprehensive family of various Industrial Ethernet and Fieldbus communications modules.
The pre-certified embedded communication interface from Deutschmann Automation can be easily and directly integrated into an industrial terminal device or sensor system without changing the firmware. As an alternative to customer’s own developed interfaces, the UNIGATE IC2 embedded series optimizes significantly developments costs and time-to-market of the final product.
The powerful UNIGATE IC2 embedded series is based on the ARM Cortex-M4 processor technology enabling a fast communication to the application side via SPI or UART. The 45 x 25 mm compact board integrates the microcontroller, Flash memory, RAM, optocoupler and bus driver.
Protocol connection between the UNIGATE IC2 and the terminal device is implemented via Deutschmann’s proprietary script language ensuring high flexibility and complexity. For generation of the script, Deutschmann Automation provides the free Protocol Developer Tool.

Protocol Converter UNIGATE CL - For all devices with a serial interface
The Protocol Converter UNIGATE CL connects devices via their serial interfaces with the desired fieldbus or Industrial Ethernet standard. RS232, RS485 and RS422 interfaces are on Board as a standard feature.
The communication between the serial side and the bus takes place through the device configuration and a selection of the commercially available protocol, such as Modbus ASCII, Modbus RTU (Master or slave), 3964 (R), RK512, DIN measuring bus, DIN 19244. For more complex applications the device can also be controlled by a script.
The protocol converters are available as slim DIN rail module according to IP20.

Embedded Module UNIGATE IC - Ready-to-install
The pre-certified embedded communication interfaces can be directly integrated into the electronics of the terminal device. Changes in the firmware of the terminal device are not necessary. This is important, for instance, for those devices whose firmware is certified and therefore may not be altered. As an alternative to customer’s own developed interfaces, the UNIGATE IC family optimizes developments costs and time-to-market of the final product. All of the devices, which are designed for various protocols, are pin compatible and can therefore be used flexibly and can be interchanged without additional effort. This thus allows quickly providing terminal devices with any desired bus for optimal integration into the environment.
The UNIGATE IC, which consists of microcontroller, Flash, RAM and all other components such as optocoupler and bus driver, is provided in a 32 DIL housing covering an area of 25 mm x 45 mm. The embedded solution can be connected via a UART interface to the microcontroller of the terminal device or can operate as stand-alone. The hardware development is reduced to integration of the IC socket and bus specific connectors.
The bus nodes can be programmed via the Deutschmann Automation developed script language. Therefore, more complex applications, which cannot be presented via a pure configuration, can be mapped. The Protocol Developer is a free tool for generation of the script. It is easy to use and specifically optimized to the bus communication. The scripts run on all UNIGATE IC variants.

Protocol Converter UNIGATE FALCON PROFINET
UNIGATE FALCON PROFINET - the new UNIGATE Protocol Converter/Gateway series generation.
In addition to the PROFINET device interface, the compact DIN rail module has serial interfaces (RS232/RS422/RS485) as well as an additional standard Ethernet port and an optional CAN interface. This way, various automation components can be quickly and easily connected to a PROFINET network. The PROFINET device interface has an integrated 2-port switch. MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol) and S2 system redundancy are also supported. In addition, up to 1024 bytes of input and output data can be transmitted via this interface.
By using the ready-to-run communication modules, the design times and the time-to-market of an end product can be significantly optimized. The UNIGATE FALCON product range is modularly designed with the aim of realizing the best possible solution for the respective application in a cost-optimized way.
The new UNIGATE FALCON - PROFINET is characterized by an extremely compact design and, with dimensions of 25.0 x 95.0 x 95.0mm (W x H x D), is a good 30 percent smaller than the predecessor model. The size of the new DIN rail modules is identical in all bus versions.
UNIGATE FALCON is based on the ARM Cortex-M processor technology, which offers a significantly higher performance. The transmission rates of the serial interfaces are 6 MBaud and are thus about ten times faster in RS485/422 operation.
The configuration of the UNIGATE FALCON modules is done comfortably via web interface over the Ethernet interface.
Free programming is possible with the Protocol Developer IDE and the easy-to-learn Deutschmann Script language developed by Deutschmann Automation. It allows the emulation of proprietary protocols as well as the implementation of standard protocols. Simple scripts can be processed in a few microseconds. Script debugging is done via USB interface, so no additional debugging hardware is required.
A new service menu, which can be accessed via a button, also enables uncomplicated support in case of service.
