Time of the “fieldbus war”

The 90s were marked by the “fieldbus war”. The first generation of fieldbus technology was already developed in the 1980s. With the foundation of the various user organizations - Profibus User Organization 1989, Interbus Club 1992 - the ideological “fieldbus war” broke out in the industry.

The number of exhibiting companies increased from 63 to 280 by 1996.

In the first 7 years, the exhibition area used increased from 3,500 to 8,000 sqm.

The number of visitors almost doubled from 3,420 to 6,816 in the first 7 years.

 

 

 

What happend at SPS?

Already in 1990 we welcomed international exhibitors from Switzerland, the Netherlands and France.

1993 we expanded the exhibition space to the first floor of the exhibition hall in Sindelfingen.
